Stainless Steel 317/317L pipes are one of the best grades of alloy steel, which are low in carbon content and works best in welded structures. Both the grades possess standard specifications for various applications and have different features which make them unique to use. Similar to other grades of stainless steel, this austenitic alloy too resists crevice corrosions, protects from oxidation and pitting. It also has improved strength and toughness, along with better stress to rapture ratio. Both the grades also stand reluctant to pitting when exposed to phosphoric and acetic acids, with improved elastic limit and smooth annealing, can be carried out in various temperatures.
While the antioxidant properties of this austenitic help to attract many commercial sectors for their daily industrial applications like fabrication, oil and gas refineries, plumbing, chemical industries, food processing industry, power plant, heating, pulp & paper industry, water supply systems, and has many other applications. These chromium and molybdenum alloy have great chemical properties that build and increase durability of the metal, along with its mechanical properties, which have a minimum yield strength of 205 MPa and basic tensile strength of 515 MPa. The L in 317L notifies low carbon content, which protects the metal from sensitization during welding and resists other thermal processes. Along with welded form, the 317/31L grade is also available in seamless forms.
